Flutterby Scarf Kit Tips for people who have bought one of the kits!

I just thought a couple of tips, if you are a beginner to knitting would help using the yarn skein I have designed. The Greens        And the Creams       The first thing for you to do is open out skein and place it on the back of a dining chair or someone's hands to help wind into a ball.  I have joined the yarn with the beginning of the knitting on the inside of the skein. So now you have a ball of yarn what needles hey? I have use 6.5mm sized double pointed needles.  There the ones that have a plastic string joining the two points.  I've just measured (approx. as there's knitting on them!) 64cm long string. Why use this type? This type make knitting large amounts of stitches much easier as the stitches have space to sit on. Unlike with the ordinary needles which the knitting tends to bunch up on. Next tip I'd like to pass on is the method I cast on with.  I always cast on as if I'm knitting a stitch, but instea

Itchy palm and Branding!

Had an itchy palm yesterday was really thinking someone has bought something....arrhhh but no! Oh well onward! I have done a fair bit of researching lately into selling at craft fairs.  Instead of making it easier to take the first steps it's making it harder!!  Where/why/who/when and what!  Never mind the how! So many other things to think of never mind your stock!! Talking about stock I've tagged and bagged my Christmas dec's.     They are large luggage labels with a transparent self adhesive backing printed with xmas salutations for the front!     On the back using the same printed transparent film is my business logo and Folksy shop address.     Here's an example of the deco attached to the label...through the string attachment hole...good hey! And another in the transparent bag packaging.     I've also done this for the Stitch Keepers.     Front of label, stitch keepers tagged and bagged!     The s

Sunday Sunday!

I cannot believe how long it has taken to develop the design for the Christmas Decorations label....I'm sure I started at about 2 o'clock it's now past 5!!! The first lot are printing off (very slowly I might add!) now. They look alright seeing as they were done in Paint and not Publisher!  I can't afford it at the moment and so will not let me edit the previous versions I had done on my old computer. It's printing on Transparent Film which I peel off and stick onto luggage tags.  I like it! Here's the Flutterby Scarf Kit one What else has happened I listed some more Christmas deco's on Folksy. I have also left an inquiry about a craft fair stall place in a couple of North West venues.....more info when I check after this! And hurrah I have just two more Christmas deco's to couch the hanging loop on! That's it for now.....I have to steal up to a dare two members of the Gundog club have set me up to do........I should have backed d

Raising the internet profile and other things!

One line a zillion threads!! I forgot from last time I tried online shop building how tiring on the eyes and spirit trying to get your work noticed is.  It's a constant shout 'hey how fab is my stuff'.  Well anyone who knows me knows I am very good at boosting others up rather than myself....I guess that's why children, in the classes I taught tried at the work I set!  Oh and it was fun!!  Making stuff these are skills I passionately feel everyone should have. So what have I listed this week. These   Stitch Keepers.   I love this idea.  Just wish others would!    They keep your stitches on the needles when you are not knitting.  The commercial ones are awful just a blob of rubbery plastic to stick on needle ends.  I can't count the amount of times I've taken my knitting out of the bag and I've got dropped stitches or the knitted item comes off completely...grrrr!     And this My Flutterby Yarn and Pattern Kit.   Again a good idea
Day 3! Hmmm NO! I won' be writing here everyday! It'll be day 2 and a second layer of paint for Mum's walls, although she wont wear her glasses so she won't see the patchiness....We've also to wait for the emergency button man today too! So before I go to Mum's I've another 13 Christmas tree deco's to sew up the stuffing openings.  I tell you I will be only be making just one more set...it'll be these ones but in pink.  There will be an extra one made for our Zoe.  In pink with shisha mirrors and Rinestuds.  It'll be Zoe's 4th xmas.  I am making the Dove for her this year so i'll be writing this somewhere on the shape.  Now whether it's the back or the front i'm not sure yet.     The next thing I've always wanted to make is an Advent Calendar.  A bit too late to be fully appreciated by my daughter!!  I had a little research this morning, a zillllion ideas but they've all been done before.  I'll
Day 2! So what makes a good reading blog? I am trying to think....I don't read much....unless it's a craft book or magazine!  I have been known to write poems and kiddy stories! I use to tell one to my daughter when she was younger and would only wear her wellingtons.  It was mostly to keep her out of the gutter after it had been raining...the roads are dangerous right. Anyway that one was about a gargoyle that lived in the water sewers who skulked around looking to eat little girls wellies if they paddled, jumped or even just dipped their toe in the gutter rain water! My degree is in Teaching crafts so I find writing a list of steps of how to make something enjoyable too.......... Perhaps I have struck on my theme.......well alongside trying to sell the fibre stuff I make! Well that's it for today...I have to get ready....I have to paint Mum's living room walls cream and then take her to a hospital appointment. Here's a pic to look at!   This
I had a conversation with a family member yesterday about re-opening my Etsy shop Fibre dreams here: Miss Dee's Fibre Dreams shop Jokingly they laughed and said "what's the sweetener?" , pardon, his face looked a little uncomfortable (!)  I said 95 pence like everyone else when you buy more than one.  Ok mizo me but who else would work for less than £3.00 an hour and my lovely Christmas hangings take longer than that I assure you! Unique and handcrafted crazy quilted Christmas tree decorations. I love making the fabric for these....I can't explain fully why...perhaps it's because you're creating a unique fabric and a bit of a gamble on how it'll turn out! I have also been looking into running starting(?) a Craft Market Stall.  I don't know how many craft events I have attended but it's amazing what you miss or never think about.  Like what kind of table can I get, a DIY store are selling pasting tables for £9.99, one or two?
