Phew!

I am so happy!!!

My little girl is now a Mrs!
She makes me very proud of the way she has conducted her life so far.  An honest, hardworking, empathetic smasher of a daughter!

She lives in Australia now with her new husband and they had decided to get married here in Liverpool, UK!  So not only have we all had to cope with the 'stress' (if that's the right description?) of arranging a wedding but poor daughter and husband had to do it long distance!
Any hoo after 8 months the wedding went off beautifully!

I had to walk her down the aisle as her own dad died 17yrs ago...I cannot remember being that shaky nervous EVER!

They look lovely together!

Arrhh well back to 'normal' life and plans to get myself over to the land of Oz for a hol!

I had a good week selling my wares last week...(well won't pay the bills yet!!)...most important sales were the fabric I make and the dyed fabric I sell.

Funny I miss looking at my sea view fabric!

Oh well I must move on!  Let me show you what am working on now....Choc-lime....

lime silk/satin iron onto muslin.  Fixed with wavy lines of machine stitching giving waves and folds of fabric.

Then lace, brown lining fabric sewn on and in between the waves and folds.

Here I felt the lime was a bit too brash (!) so before more machine stitching I put some dark green lining fabric on too.

Loads more machine sewing down.  Then hand stitching on shapes and attaching leather.

So here I am stuck and waiting!

I love what going on.  I love the textures of the fabrics against each other....but there needs to be something else....I'm playing with snippets of fabric...knobbly large stitches (French knots with fabric)...or couching of lace tubes....and which colour...there's hints of pink too....dunno...it's hanging on a wall so when I go past it I can consider it in different lights and views!!!

I'm thinking the fabric will make fab cushion covers....WHEN it's finished....

Thanks for reading!

Congratulations on what was obviously a lovely wedding. Your blue/green fabric now has a loving home - make sure you print out photos of your work - don't be like me who leaves them as jpeg's on computer.

Your new piece of work reminds me of our woodland in winter....
Yes I can see a woodland too...arrhh some clarity very helpful...thank you.
Yes it was a lovely wedding, she's my only child, so very special and I'm grateful.

Creation of a dream

I should have started this two years ago! That`s when the dream of Fibre Dreams began to take shape! So after this long journey i am ready to start on the road trip of a lifetime. I shall boldly go onto the Internet with my handmade products. I have a transporter full of the extra materials and equipment i think other fibre craft people would like to have as well... I`ve got the stuff now i need to learn how to set up a website...or set up shop on big shop site (you know the bay thingeo!). I will even learn how to post photo`s of my products. Fibre Dreams.....First frustration was not understanding why the telephone number is not recognised when i tried to .com my blog site? And why you have to have a fax if you are setting up as a business?? And where do i go to get these answers.... But a successful day on the knitted blooms broaches!! So at this point in time if you have experience setting up fibre craft websites i would be grateful for any positive comments! If you have any in...

More City & Guilds Module snippets!

The course with the The School of Stitched Textiles  really allowed me to move out of the comfort zone. You know the course is so varied in content there is no room to get complacent. For instance this print below.  The brief was use an artist style to design a Print.  This stops you, it did in my case (!), from falling into the designs you usually come up with. I used Paul Klee's Full Moon (1919).  I did manage to make the stencil achieve a border repeat and made a Lino cut stamp for the tree.  Fun and challenging! Another, Module 7, had us making beads, buttons, tassels, braids and edgings to fabric panels...loads! I personally love these  fabric bell tassels on hand made cord.  I believe the design comes from India... Here's some of the other tassels that were the least unwieldy to fit into my Module 7 Sample fabric book! This is a Lantern!  The base fabric is Organdie.  Fun was had researching into the best fabric stiffener because i have...
